Will Bankruptcy Stop a Lawsuit?
Yes filing bankruptcy can stop the lawsuit against you and it normally does.
An automatic stay requires that creditors stop the suit until the bankruptcy case is finished. If your debts are discharged in a Chapter 7 case, it will invalidate the lawsuit.
Bankruptcy is a good option, however, please note that you can also fight the lawsuit on your own, or through an attorney, or possibly work out a settlement. Call me so that we can talk through your situation to see if Bankruptcy is the best solution for you.
